Sim City 2000: Reticulating Splines

You may have noticed (as has happened many, many times in the past) that I haven’t written an entry on here for ages. I’ve had plenty of things I’ve wanted to blog about, but for some reason I’ve been reluctant to break out into full-on writing mode. So, I’m going to re-purpose my blog.

For quite a while now, I’ve been tinkering with tumblelogs. A tumblelog is essentially a ‘microblog’ of interesting snippets of information: usually things that one has found whilst surfing round the internet. Things like pictures, movies, quotes, and short blog entries. I guess they fit somewhere between regular blogs and status-update services like Twitter and Jaiku.

Anyway, so I figure that posting more regularly but in smaller, more bite-size chunks, will get me blogging again. I’ve had a play with Tumblr (which is really nifty), but it has a major downside that there’s no particularly easy way of exporting/backing up your posts. So, I’m going to attempt to use WordPress in a tumblelog style, with the help of a couple of plug-ins. From now on, I’ll be (hopefully) posting shorter, more frequent entries on here. I’m also planning to still post the occasional longer, more thought-out article style entry; these will appear in the articles category so they’re easy to find.

To anyone reading this on Planet SUCS: should I leave the main feed from this blog on the Planet, or should I switch it over to just the feed from the articles category? I don’t want to flood Planet SUCS with lots and lots of just me! :-) Answers on a postcard, or (alternatively) in the comments below!
